Nah, you'll need a better straw man than that to break up a celebration as grand as this one!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The point is the extent of the loss of the seats during the second term of a presidency and more importantly, the change in the balance of power in Congress. By becoming the majority party in both the house and senate, all of the committee chairs and the rules also change, especially the power to approve judicial nominees and head up hearings. Of course you can minimize this week's news, but the impact in Washington is rather significant.Originally posted by Kent Johnson:
DOing some googling i found out that since WWII during the second term of a presidency there is always a loss of seats during the 'off' election. This election the results were right on the numbers average wise.
Yes! Let's put those party hats back on and remember that the facts favor the Democrats!
Back to celebrating!

Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun,
Here comes the sun, and I say
it's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun,
Here comes the sun, and I say
it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Here's what someone found a' googling...Note this is from 1998...

Key states, key victories
Democrat victories were all the more surprising as history was on the Republicans' side.

Only two presidents this century - Theodore Roosevelt in 1902 and Franklin Roosevelt in 1934 - have seen their parties make inroads in the House during mid-term elections[/bold]
