    Hello to all!

Glad to see so many new people on the board. It's been awhile since I've ******d. I had a lot going on. Well hubby and I finally bit the bullet and started having our kitchen remodeled. It really was out of necessity...severe leaks from the bathroom. We had the bathroom redone and just forged ahead. My Mrs.B will fianlly have a proper place to stand command! I want to Thank Ha for all his input, quite helpful for those long term decisions.
I can't wait to be able to cook again and share recipes will all of you. I've enjoyed reading everyones comments and stories. I will post some pics of the kitchen when done.

Todd, your mother is in my prayers.

    Hi Treatmaker,
I'm looking forward to hearing about your new kitchen. I hope to be redoing mine soon.
I enjoy reading your recipes. Looking forward to trying them in my Chambers.
My husband used to live in Bayside and I grew up in Queens also.
I tried to contact your Chambers repairman but no luck yet.
The last time I had a kitchen redone my electric frying pan was my best friend.
    Good luck,

    Pastagirl,

Thanks for the encouragement. Is Paul(chambers repair guy) away? Geez, I'm going to try and get in touch with him too. I need him to hook up my "new" chambers when the kitchen is done.

I've been using the bbq, micro and crock pot. Made a make shift kitchen in the den/basement.
Tonight I cooked at my mom's. You really appreciate a chambers so much more when you cook on a modern stove! Chambers is the best.

Where in Bayside did you grow up? I'm off Bell and Northern. Walking distance from White Castle.

    Treatmaker,
My husband's family used to live on 206th between 56th and 58th Avenues.
I grew up in Queens Village and went to high school in College Point. We lived in Flushing when we were married(Ages ago!)
One of our children was about 18mos old when we did the kitchen in our old house, it was not fun.
Hope it goes well and quickly for you.

    Pastagirl,

Did you go to St. Agnes? Regarding the remodel, I have to say, I'm ready to see all the workers wave goodbye! As remodeling goes it has gone pretty smooth. First the bathroom which turned out great, the kitchen was actually slated for the summer, but to much damage structurally from the bathroom so we forged ahead. During this whole process my father passed away which made this whole thing sad. Needless to say, I lit up a cigarette after 1 year.

Let me know if you get in touch with Paul - Chambers stove guy. I'm going to call him in a week which is when I think the stove will be ready to go in.

    Pastagirl,

Don't know your age, but do you think we could know one another? I didn't go to Agnes but dated a Holly Cross guy and his brother dated someone from Agnes. I'll give up my age - graduated '74.

    Treatmaker,
I don't think so, I graduated in '71. I had to do math to remember that.
You might know my brother or sister-in-law.
They spent more time in Bayside than my husband did. I will email you their last name.

    Hi Treatmaker,
Yes,I did go to St. Agnes, and my husband taught there for two years.
Glad to hear that the remodel is going smoothly for you.
Sorry about your dad. When I stopped smoking, 16 years ago, funerals were the only times I allowed myself a cigarette.
    Hang in there.
