    Question

Is there a step by step procedure for taking apart the oven box? Does anyone have or know where I can purchase a set of assembly instructions? We need to replace insulation around the oven box.

As I was redoing my stove I kept saying to myself if it was put together It can be taken apart. First take off the porcelain front of the stove. Then the cast iron front plate of the oven has to come off. Next the oven racks have to be removed. They are held in place by the front plate and two bolts in the rear of the oven box. The top of the oven box needs to come off also. The oven damper in the back of the oven is easily removed by the two bolts on either side. The hardest part is to remove the sleeve that the mixer pin (gas jet) goes through. I went through the service cabinet and gently bent back the flange that holds it in place. Once this is removed the oven box should be able to be removed by pulling if through the front of the oven. Do this carefully and I hope I didn't forget any steps. It's a bit involved but it can be done.

When taking the Oven Cast iron door flange off
don't forget to take the oven door springs off.
there is a rod that goes through the wall down to
the front of the stove and there is a nut that
holds the spring on. You can remove this nut
the spring retainer, the spring and another spring
retainer. you will see this after you take the
    front off.
There is another way to leave the spring in place
but there are two screws on the side of the oven
door flange holding the oven door stop??? the
piece that keeps the door from going all the way
down when it is opened. The screws hold a bracket
onto the oven door and is attached to the spring
rod. Failure to remove this can result in bent
inside oven box panels. experience on donor stove.
