My Mom used one of these and called it her "grill pan" while I grew up. I've been buying them at garage sales for all my daughters-in-law. They are the perfect size for our sheet cake, plus, laid across two burners, make wonderful pancakes, hamburgers, etc. Mom says it has a roasting lid, but is not the super large one by wear ever. I have that one also.

Hmmmm. Couldn't find it in the earlier catalogs. I'll check in my 1940's catalog tonight. I'm curious about it now. :-)

Aha! I found it in my 1946 catalog. I knew it sounded familiar - I have this pan too, although I haven't tried using it yet. You have some great ideas for its use.
Here's what the Instruction Book says about it: "No. 918 - For baking, pancakes, broiling ham or bacon, frying eggs, or making omelet for a large family." As you can tell, it's under the "Breakfast" section of the book. :-)
