That's true. Maybe we do get desensitized. 9/11 was so mindboggling scary that it is perhaps logical we don't get shocked that much anymore.
But I thought the more recent Columbia disaster was pretty awful. But I have this old-fashioned view of astronauts. They're still heroes to me. Maybe one of the last heroes we have left, actually.

I agree with that....and I don't think they get the attention they deserve...unless its bad publicity..like the gal that drove non stop from Texas in a depends to shoot her rival at the Orlando airport..she ruined her whole career over a stupid affair..

are you talking about that astronaut? Yeah pretty damn stupid. I am surprised they would allow someon so unstable to be anywhere near a shuttle.
