For my part the discussions about wishes was that I do not have a very good wishboard (or any wish board) as of right now, so they are underwhelming. Perhaps I should start building one to make it worth while, but I just never took the time or (small amount of) cash to build it.
Shit, wishboards are cheap. It's all situational stuff. Heck, you probably have situational stuff in your main deck that you could move to the board.
Perhaps it is time for Firestorm to join the wishboard. Its use has typically been very situational. But when it works, boy does it ever. It has been quite a valuable card at times past.
Mortivore might be replaceable with something else that is stupid graveyard cool. Perhaps something with inherent trample? (If such a thing exists). The regeneration isn't typically useful due to the regular size of a Mortivore.
Does the deck need Recollect, Regrowth, Restock, and Recoup?
Other than that, there just aren't a lot of obvious weak links. I guess the we have to look at what the proper amount of each thing is. We have an idea for the percentage of land/land fix, but what about the number of artifact destruction cards? Is there too many? Is Ancient Grudge needed? Ect....
The deck is already running way over the normal allotment of land fix. Increasing to 300 should be doable without any additional fixing what-so-ever.
Plus, the RoTE cards coming out soon.
I know. RotE is only a few weeks from release. However, doing the grunt work on all the cards prior to the set means it'll be a lot easier to just analyze that when it hits. It was always easier to update the deck on a set by set basis.
Now though, there's a lot of missed sets and a size increase. That's a lot to consider, especially when the deck doesn't have many obviously weak cards. We have to look for things that are either fundamentally better than a card already in the deck, or just too damned good to miss.
How do you feel about the power issue?
Personally, I'd steer clear of fake cards other than Mox Crystal
cards unbanned and available:
Gifts Ungiven
Intutition
Imperial Seal
Vampiric Tutor
Mystical Tutor
Panoptic Mirror
Survival of the Fittest
Tinker
Wild Research
Yawgmoth's Will
Yawgmoth's Bargain
Demonic Consultation
Might want to consider some of those as well.
Oh, and Contract is now legal in non-ante formats. You just don;t ante.
Also, 250, the format splintered from teh old Five Color, has successfully unbanned for months Phyrexian Mirror and Parallel Thoughts without problem. Only 6 cards are in common on both lists - Battle of Wits, Sundering Titan, Shahrazad, Insidious Dreams, Holistic Wisdom, and Bringer of the Black dawn.
Wait a sec, Contract is now one black, discard your hand, and draw 7!? That's insane. Also it solves that regrowing question :D
Read about the proxies thread. We've been talking about Essentials and Budget Essentials.
