Cards Pulled from H&J
I just bought all new sleeves for my deck because you can;t find the right ones any more and they are getting old and breaking. I bought 3750 of the new purples for 120 including shipping off eBay.
Creatures with an ETB bounce trigger that are not at least 4/4 or 3/3 with horsemanship:
Man-o'-War, Riftwing Cloudskate
Dumb flyers that don't do anything else but have a drawback:
Covetous Dragon, Moroii
Counters that don't permanently counter a card, except for Spell Contortion due to its card advantage potential. And Circular Logic, which usually is a hard counter.
Complicate
Offering to Asha
Mana Leak
Miscalculation
Delay
Evasive Action
Ertrai's Meddling
I don't play X so why am I playing Y?
I don't play Serra Angel, so why Serra Sphinx? Pulled
Don't play vanilla 4/4 for 4 mana, so why play Nagao, Bound by Honor? Pulled
Don't play any other bounce spell which is card disadvantage, so why play Wipe Away? Pulled
Don 't play Pestermite, so why play Deceiver Exarch? Pulled
Cards that aren't as good as I thought they'd be:
Mask of the Mimic - Just too much tutoring for one specific card - too slow
Reincarnation - Always hold it when you can't use it
Quest for Renewal - Too hard to get working and to use when you do
Hellhole Rats - Not card disadvantage, but it's just too small and too minor.
Intimidation Bolt - It just doesn't have the power I wanted
Necroplasm - Regularly in my bottom five or ten to not get purged, but this time, it just hasn't done enough. See ya!
Why did I ever play it?
Reality Ripple - Protect my guys, chump block and survive, take care of an attacker for a turn, and all at card advantage (save the first which is just equilibrium). See also - Turn to Mist.
Reality Spasm - Yeah, exactly.
Deadhead - Is a 3/3 chump dude ever worth this? Not really.
Brightflame - It always looks amazing, but the heavy mana requirements and lack of predicting when it goes amazing prevent it from being...good.
Survival Cache - The problem is that when you are winning,m it's 4 life and 2 cards for three mana - amazing. When you are not, it's just 4 life for three mana. Suck. It's too inconsistent.
Times Have Changed:
Look at me, I;'m the DCi - This was once great, but everyone is playing Commander now and this is banned, not working, and yuck. Even against 60 card decks, I just don;t feel it. It's time has passed.
Wormfang Drake - When my deck was a large percentage of ETB creatures, this was great abuse, but now? Nothing. See also: Dust Elemental.
Erayo, Soratami Ascendant - It's just too much, you know? I feel slimy just drawing it. I'm not in an Erayo place anymore.
Blood Frenzy - It doesn't work the way it used too, and I never pulled it out. Good multiplayer use - Bob's creature gets bigger and hurts Steve more, but dies. It held on for years because of that, but it's still limited removal. See ya!
Rhystic Tutor - I used to be able to get this off reliably, now I have to wait for the perfect moment, and even then, I might not want to tutor, but I have to.
