Judging Result For 228 National Memorial Park International Design Competition

【Topic】The disclosure of the result of the international competition of construction draft for 228 National Memorial Park hosted by Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of Interior will be held along with an award ceremony, a seminar, and an exhibition of the selected works.

【Abstract】Judith Stilgenbauer?s team has earned 1st place in the international competition. The award ceremony and the seminar will be held at the 3rd lecture theater of the comprehensive building of National Taipei University of Technology at 9:00 am on Mar. 7, 2006 (Tuesday). The winners of the first three places will be invited to present their works. Mr. Yen-Hsien Chang, the President of Academia Historica, and Mr. Chin-Jung Tsao will be invited to make speeches. Everyone is welcome to attend the events.

【Content】228 National Memorial Park is located on 112 Land Number, Yu-shan Small Section, Liu-Cho Section, Chiayi City. It has an area of 6.1 hectares. According to the ?228 National Memorial Park Development Plan? issued by Executive Yuan on Apr. 9, 2004, the agency held an international draft competition to gather design plans with creative schemes. The competition was announced and began on Jan. 6, 2006, and the receipt of entries ended on Feb. 20, 2006. There were totally 17 bidders from USA, Japan, Spain, Finland, and Ireland, and also well-known domestic professional environment planning teams. On Feb. 21, 2006, after an examination, 15 entries were qualified for the competition, the other 2 were considered as abstaining due to lateness in handing in their work.
Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of Interior convened a selection committee on Feb. 22, 2006. Among the results of the selection, first place goes to the team composed of Judith Stilgenbauer, assistant professor of the Department of Landscape Architecture, and Environmental Planning of U.C.
