When the morning skies grow red
And o'er us their radiance shed,
Thou, O Lord, appeareth in their light.
When the Alps glow bright with splendour,
Pray to God, to Him surrender,
    For you feel and understand,
That He dwelleth in this land.

In the sunset Thou art night
    And beyond the starry sky,
Thou, O loving Father, ever near.
When to Heaven we are departing,
Joy and bliss Thou'lt be imparting,
    For we feel and understand
That Thou dwellest in this land.

When dark clouds enshroud the hills
And gray mist the valley fills,
Yet Thou art not hidden from Thy sons.
Pierce the gloom in which we cower
    With Thy sunshine's cleansing power
    Then we'll feel and understand
That God dwelleth in this land.

Drives in the wild storm therefore,
Is you us stronghold and resistance,
    You, all-powerfully whale tender, saving!
In thunderstorm eight and grey ones let
Us childlike it trust! Yes, which suspects
Pious soul, the pious soul suspects God in
The hehren native country, God, the gentleman,
    In the hehren native country!

The Ancient Germanic tongue of an unknown tribe echoed throughout the peaks of the Swiss Alps on a day so pure, clear, and fresh, that God must have touched everything and everyone. It had stopped hailing snow for the ceremony.

Heidi knelt naked on one knee before the Head of the Council, palms encircling the crucifix hanging from her neck. Her head was tilted down towards the ground, hazel eyes peering into the cold flakes gathered under her body. Her skin was blue, her lips purple, but she didn?t feel cold. She was filled with the warmth and light of the Savior. She blended in well with the mountain.

As she felt the razor sharp edge of the sword touch each of her shoulders, she whispered prayers to herself, quiet, eyes now closed. She soon brought herself to her feet, light, and in the sun. She was changed. A member. Purified in mind, body, and soul. Purified of her old ways. Forgiven.

Freezing tears dropped from her eyes as a black cloak was draped over her shoulders, and the hilts of two holy swords were placed within each of her palms. They left her there on the mountain top, and she slept for what seemed like an eternity, her mind wandering all space, getting lost, eventually finding its way back.

When she came down, she was a Warrior of God, a Guardian Angel. The Head told her where her first assignment would be, and she packed her bags for the United States of America. She was rushed. She didn?t have much time.

Destiny, some called it. Fate. She called it the power of God. She called it God?s plan. Her inescapable path of righteousness, though riddled with temptation and no doubt one bloody battle after another.

She was the only one in her tribe with the Sight. The eyes to see the demons that plagued the Earth. In America they stalked everywhere. This was a country of evil. A country of money. The nation was godless, and this hurt her heart. Literally.

The Warrior stalked the night in search of the light. Flashes of war fought for her minds attention. Satan wanted to make her remember the sins of her past. The killing, the murdering. He tried to tell her that it wasn?t any different from what she was doing now ? murdering humans. She shook her head. ?Wie gehts achi, D?mon.? Wrong, demon. The German accent was lost on the rapid wind above the city, on the rooftop.

When she finally found that light it was some months later, walking alone on the empty streets and late at night. Heidi had been told the search would be long and hard and that when she did find what she was seeking it would be shrouded in a cloud of black. It would look like the moon in a night sky.

She smiled for the first time in a long time. The search was over, at least.
