So she can! He'd expected it, of course, however.

Eyes cut a glance to watch Des and Reva move into the dance, too, a grin for them. Even as he listened to Cam then looked back to her as she spoke.

"Well, of course there's a line for such a lovely lady. But, you've now graced me with the pleasure of not only being first, but last, in that line. It's an honor." Slight bow accompanied the words, that accent still there and faint.

Amused, too, as he added with a glance down to her hand. "S'm' lapel. If it got forward with you, lemme know... s'my job."

And then he was concentrating fully on the dance, sweeping the two of them further into it.

Head tilting a slight, Zeth got a quick flash of a smile, but attention was on Des and Reva for a moment. Nothing said, she simply allowed herself to be escorted onto the floor. Position assumed, and the gentle stepping/swaying started. Dip here, twirl there, and vye-o-lay. ( watch the Little Mermaid! )

Half an ear kept out for the music, Zeth's question prompted blue-violets to settle on his face-- rather, the mask. "Oh, I gotta make the rounds of course. Got the guys linin' up and all, but 'm pretty sure I can sneak you the last one," breezily, though she almost started laughing at herself. She had to dance with a couple of her old friends, mandatory, but other than that, someone needed to keep her from harassing Des.

Smoothing a hand down the front of his lapel absently, another smile was sent up his way. Looksit. She can be polite and dignified too.

[ For the sake of moving the thread towards closing .. ]

The night was flawless. It was B.G.I.'s first event where no windows had been broken by gunfire, the cops hadn't been called, and Arianna hadn't threatened to decapitate someone. All in all, it was a success. The band had varied from classical, to jazz, to blues, to swing-- giving everyone a bit of variety to dance to. After Zeth, Cam had the honor of dancing with Pete, Tom, Clyde ( the band leader ), and had even managed to snag Des away from Reva a time or two!

Towards the end of the evening, the band had wound down to a slow bluesy number. The kind that made you want to dance cheek to cheek, even if you weren't there with a significant other. Catching sight of Bren and Max on one side of the dance floor, Cam waved their way and grinned. The same towards Des and Reva. Finally, spotting Mr. Garou himself, she swept her way over to where he was. Dropping into a low curtsey, once she straightened, an arm was offered his way. He had said he wanted the last dance of the evening, after all.

Having been talked into this only moments prior, Ari stepped up behind the microphone. It had been roughly three years since she'd sang in public, and the thought of doing it right now made her a little queasy. Catching the reassuring thumbs up Cam sent her, the mamba smiled the canary's way and cleared her throat. If she had to sing, she was going to sing a song that was near and dear to a couple of people's hearts, hers included.

Her voice was melodic, carrying with just enough sadness and woe inflected to make the words hit home, like they were supposed to. Shoulders lifting a little, eyes scanned the crowd, trying to pick out a certain tall, pale fellow that she happened to be in love with. ( No, not Des! ).

"I try to think that love's not around,
but it's uncomfortably near.
My old heart ain't gainin' no ground,
because my angel eyes ain't here.

Angel eyes, that old devil sent,
they glow unbearably bright.
Need I say that my love's misspent,
misspent with angel eyes tonight.

So drink up all you people,
order anything you see.
Have fun, you happy people.
The laughs and the joke's on me.

Pardon me, but I've gotta run.
The fact's uncommonly clear.
Gotta find who's now number one,
and why my angel eyes..
Oh where is my angel eyes?
Excuse me while I disappear..."

It had been such a long while. Since he could spend an evening dancing, with more than just sisters. When he could admire, flirt a little, dare a bit. Not much, likely barely at all to anyone else, but it was a lot, for him.

Just strange it was again when he wore Harlequins mask. Believe it and be it, perhaps. Then it was easy.

Such a smile shone up to Arianna as she sang. It was always different, the way a song came across, when it meant so much to the singer.

Soon enough, just be Desdenova again. But stepped on toes or not, he wouldn't tell, he'd ask Reva for the last dance before the night had to end.

Des had the right of it. A song *was* that much 'more' when it meant something to the singer. And Ari was awesome in her performance.

He made some rounds, met some people, was at his social best through the night. And tried to dance once to each kind of music offered.

When Cam arrived for the last dance, again, he bowed to her curtsey and grinned. And this time, just moved into the dance silently, considering the tempo and the kind of number it was. Doing his best to provide her with an enjoyable last dance for the evening, same as she'd provided an enjoyable time to him, just having invited him.

A night he'd long remember, considering the company, and good times.

Perhaps it was the mask. Or the gown. Or the company. Maybe all of it combined. No matter what, it all added up to an incredible night of dancing and merriment. She couldn't remember ever dancing so much, and her cheeks ached from the constant smiles that seemed to appear naturally and for no apparent reason.

Mesmerized by the Ari's song, it touched her heart on a number of levels. A perfect prelude to the last dance. Though she expected it to be with Des, since the majority of the dances had been, there was still something about it being the most special.

Only twice did she step on the toe of his shoes, and each time offered an apologetic smile. Aside from the misstep, however, it was a perfect night. One she'd remember for the rest of her life.
