"Oh... Gothic Barbie," Desdenova noted, almost a quiet awe to the soft voice before a sudden shine of smile lit under the Harlequin mask, dimpled and sweet, offering out his hand to her. To bow over, as if to kiss her knuckles -- but wouldn't, that was impolite, after all.

He did remember to let her hand go, turning another flare of smile as if to announce Revas' arrival. Not stuck, no, just biding his time until the dance floor opened.

Snagging one of the waiters going by, carrying a tray laden with champagne flutes, one was plucked up and carried along with her as she approached the door. The only down side about hosting these events; she never got to really sit down. Which was a shame, really. A grumpy Ari was a sight a lot of people here didn't want to see. Back in the hey-day, before she and Orin were married, her public ( and mostly violent ) outbursts were privy to everyone in a fifty foot radius. How many shoot outs had happened here? How many people had waltzed through that door, only to be carried out in a black bag? The number was quite silly. If anyone -- anyone -- did anything to ruin tonight, it was quite possible to find Mrs. deBurgh either on the bar's top with a Thompson, in jail, or a combination of the two.

Glass lifted, the pale amber liquid was drained in a matter of seconds, and her 'happy' smile was pasted back on. The woman that had just entered looked a bit lost, and Ari promptly veered to head her way. Short in stature, she had a presence that commanded -- borderline demanded -- attention. "Evening, cher. My name is Arianna, welcome to the Masquerade. Are you looking for anyone in particular?" Without waiting to be told, an arm looped through Reva's and Ari began leading her towards the bar. Little did she know that was where the other broad needed to go. "Feel free to imbibe in anything we have to offer tonight. If you need anything, just give me a yell."

Smiling with that, Reva's arm was released-- leaving her free to float the rest of the way towards the bar. Directly behind where Des, Cam, and Zeth were taking up space, to be exact. Before anything else could really be said, Her Majesty ( as the workers dubbed her ) flittered off to continue the meet-and-greet. En route back to the door, another champagne flute was nabbed. Oof, it was going to be a long night.

Pardon, but the bar was which way exactly?

"Hey Arianna. Y'look real pretty," she said, smiling wide and keeping up with the whole 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' affect. Camilla had given a gentle reminder to acknowledge Arianna and offer gracious thanks for the invitation and use of the B.G.I., which was a splendid structure all in itself. The atmosphere was easy and relaxed, allowing Brenna's memory to trigger all on its own without the usual follow up reminder. Though Camilla should know this was always very appreciated.

Des handed her off to Max and she slipped an arm through his, holding at the bend of his elbow. "You look great," came the appreciative compliment. "Since we're playing pass-the-person, bar time's been invaded. I think we should hit it first then mingle from there. Sound like a plan?" Getting completely comfortable would, most likely, require a couple of beers in order to attain the proper mind set necessary for ..mingling. Once this was complete, she'd talk to whoever was standing closest and the few parties closest to that person as well.

Her eyes roamed from guest to guest, admiring each for their own unique transformation; festivities seemed to encourage people to come out of their shell and play an altered role for the night. Regardless of personal strategy for attendance, it was good to be around friends and acquaintances to share in the occasion.

Just for clarification purposes, her strategy was mapped out prior to attending, thanks to Camilla, and it could basically be summed up in two words: Open bar. And en route, she was scanning the joint for the first person she saw to light a cigarette, because that individual was going to make a new friend. Her latest shrink informed her that chewing gum was a good substitute for smoking, though she didn't see it that way. Not at all. Every time she inhaled, she got a wad of gum stuck in her throat. Bren's advice? Just because they had 'MD' after their name didn't make them a legitimate doctor; phht.

Almost reaching the bar, she smiled in approval when she realized there was no line. This was a dream come true..

"Thank you, Arianna..." But the hostess was already off and doing the meet-and-greet with the other partygoers. Now deposited by the bar, her eyes squinted to peer at the trio nearby. Only when Des smiled did she recognize him -- the hairstyle! It was different. But the smile, of course, never changed. Gothic Barbie! That amused and pleased her entirely.

"You look very handsome," her own grin blossomed and the dimple in one cheek deepened. With an order given to the bartender for a club soda with lime, she turned full attention to Zeth and Camilla.

"Cam, your gown is beautiful." The sweep of her gaze took in everything from mask to the tips of the woman's shoes. Oo! She'd have to ask where she purchased those! When her gaze flickered to Zeth, she paused and then, slowly, looked down to see if the man had on flip-flops. Oh, thank goodness. Hm. Her brow furrowed as she studied the surfer. He still looked different! Was he taller?! "And you are handsome this evening, as well." Inclining her head to Zeth.

And now that the greetings were made and she was much more relaxed being around people she knew, all that had to be done now was await the music and dance!

You *know* there was a wolfish grin forming as he tipped slightly to get as good a gander at the gams as he gould... er, could, when Cam lifted the dress to look at her own heels!

"S'Zeth, y'." Slurring, just briefly, to let Cam know 'for sure' she'd picked him out. "And those legs're way spiffier than any others I've seen... Can I have the pleasure of at least *one* dance with the lovely lady, tonight?" Swift smile, and slight bow once again with the question.

Then, Reva was arriving... "We just do our best to try and match the loveliness you ladies are presenting, dear Reva." Sounded so good, with even that slight accent. Well. To Zeth. But he's biased. And, yes... he certainly *seems* taller. Standing straight for a change will do that!

Eyes squinting a little as she half turned to look .. up at Zeth ( nothing new, but dangit, he got taller! ), a classic double-take was done when Reva was released at the bar. "Yours is gorgeous too," even if it was pink! Everybody just looked so darn fancy tonight.

Dropping the dress back to rest against her ankles, her chin lifted a slight when the band leader tapped his baton against the music stand. A slow waltz began, and it was a safe guess to say the dance floor was now open.

Executing a small curtsey, she extended her hand towards Zeth. Might as well get jiggy with it right off the bat. Plus, that accent-- what woman didn't like being complimented by a guy with a slight British accent? "Watch it with the dips, or you're gonna see a whole lot more than leg," quipped humorously as she tugged up the front of her gown.

    Let's get the party started.

A half-face mask was only good for hiding part of a blush, really. Pale skin reddened under the compliment, though he smiled, pleased. Soft hushes of laughter as Zeth proved to be more refined than he had let on.

Brightening the moment he heard the music, yes, the youth still waited the bare minimum of polite before imitating Cam, though with a sweet flickering of smile and offering of his hand to Reva.

"Would you do me the honor of a dance?"

Elegant, yes, but without the slight English accent.

Zeth took Cam's hand, and even raised it to brush a kiss on the back. Then held her hand and arm up, slightly, as he escorted her over to the dance floor. Along the way, a continued wolfish grin and wink over to Des.

"Sic' 'er, Des." In regards to Reva, who also got a wink.

"You say that, as if, somehow, I'm supposed to think it's a *bad* thing."

His answer to Cam, about seeing 'more' as he turned toward her and placed hand expertly on her side. Of course, with the quip, the grin was the most wolfish yet. But just as suddenly it turned into simple and warm smile as he stepped into the waltz.

Surprize number three? Not only does he clean up well and can talk without the slur, he's also quite well versed in waltzes and other ballroom dances. But, then, Des at least knew Zeth came from a pretty rich family. They probably held cotillons and all them-thar-other fancy shcmancy type parties.

Before they got going too much, Zeth'd be up-front... "May I inquire as to the ladys' plans for the last dance of the evening...? I certainly don't intend to monopolize you all night, but is there someone you'd reserved the honor to, or...?"

See? Not flat-out asking, *hinting* he'd love to have it. If the accent got him the last dance of the night, well, he didn't *mean* to cheat by having 'used' it... nor would he complain, however!

The pink silk of a glove slipped lightly over Desdenova's hand and clasped it with a squeeze, and she stepped closer to his side to accept the dance invitation. "It would be a pleasure."

When Zeth passed, either his comment or wink caused a faint blush of color below the mask she wore. But with all the pink she had on, who'd notice?

The music made her a little nervous since most of the dancing that she had ever done was in clubs. However, she had one experience in dancing to a waltz, and that was when she had the lead role in a high school production of The King and I. Taking Des' lead to the dance floor, she turned to face him and inhaled a soft breath before releasing a quiet whisper under the strains of music. "I cannot be blamed if I step on your toes."

Desdenova did dance, well, and as often as he possibly could. It was something he'd loved from the first times he remembered watching his parents sweet through the parlor to the tinny sounding music playing from the old Victrola.

Flushing faintly at Zeths' remark, a shy touch of smile, he simply escorted Reva to the dance floor.

Rarely, anymore, did he get a chance to dance with someone that wasn't a sister, the flare of his smile was warm, humorous, graced as the first step into the waltz.

    "That's all right. I won't tell if you don't."
