Here is my dilemma....

Ever since that I've got the engine rebuilt and everything together, i've gone through two alternator - crank pulley belts.

They keep shredding aprart to a single strand. What could be the problem here. I've not had this problem in the past and I had the same setup as before. I had the crv crank pulley in there before and this didnt happen. I can see that its a wee bit off so how can i adjust this? what can I adjust to make it align properly. This is becoming a major PITA to change all the time.

Anyone that has any info on how to aling this properly so that I dont have to go through this, I would really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

sometimes there is a spacer or shim that goes between the alternator and backet. It was probably discarded when the engine was reassembled or it was used on the wrong side. You just need to use spacers or ships to allign the alternator pulley to the crank pulley.

i had one of the ribs on my stock pulley being warped just a tad bit. that was enough to shread the belt up. switched to Jim's pulley and no more shredding belts. them pulleys get damaged too easily.........................maybe its cause i put a chain wrench on it to take it off

Make sure the pulleys didn't get any nicks in them when moving the engine in or out. All it takes is 1 nick to tear a belt up.
