    Question

    plugs
http://www.geocities.com/tjsite/misc/plugs.jpg if you can't see the picture.

Some of you may have seen this exact same question at theoldone.com - it's gotten minimal responses, so I'm expanding my coverage...thanks.

Ok, this is on a SC D16A6 - new motor built for boost, SC re-work, Zdyne gold, Zdyne supplied 450cc injectors, bosch fuel pump....lots more, if you think it's relevant, just ask. I probably have it.
Fuel pressure at idle is 24psi, under boost it's max. 38psi. Achieved with the B&M regualtor and the Cartech 20005.

The motor has about 1200 miles on it now. Yesterday I was checking plugs, adjusting valves, etc. I've been all over the "map" with the Zdyne trying to tune with my ass. Needless to say it's not working so well. That would explain the general richness of 1, 3, and 4. However, #2 is just black black.

I cleaned the plugs thouroughly, re-installed them and went for a 1.5 mile drive - part through the neighborhood, part on a bigger road where I can get into 3rd under full 1-2 acceleration.

This morning, I went out to confirm that #2 was again super black. It is. So, I suspect that something is up with #2 fuel injector. Any ideas anyone? I already swapped #2 and #1 injectors to see if the problem moves over to #1. I haven't gone "around the block" yet, I figured I'd get this up for some advice while I go...

    Thanks for any help/suggestions...

    -TJ

The injector swap is the right move... now, go drive around the block and let us know what happens.

Affirmative, the problem has now migrated to cylinder #1 where the suspect injector is. Now what? I don't have an injector test rig.
I know it's not physically stuck open because when I pulled the injectors out to swap them, the fuel rail drained when I pulled the first injector out of it.

Does anyone know exactly where Zdyne gets these injectors? Maybe Bill will tell me if I e-mail them...

    TJ:
I'm not sure where your located, but I can flow test your injectors for you and see if the problem lies within the injector...

It more than likely does, since the rich condition migrated to #1...

Unfortunately for me, I'm in Colorado, not Washington.
Any ideas on what the injector is doing to flow so much? Sticking open?

Maybe a piece of dirt or an imperfection in the seat...

You might want to check resistance on it too... cool

From what I've heard it seems very likely that Zdyne is selling the same injectors that come stock on 5-speed DSM (eclipse/talon) turbo models. You can usually find a full set of these for under $50 used on Ebay so if you're in need of spares that's a good place to start.
