We are building up a civic hatch for the strip and wondering what the rules are for Lexan windows.
ie. thickness? or anything else that may be overlooked.
Probably a dumb question, but can plexiglass be used instead? (much cheaper heh)

Lets see what NHRA has to say about it:
And lets use the 2001 rule book I just recieved in the mail yesterday...
General regulations:
7:9 Windshield, Windows
Windshields and/or windows on all cars, when called for under class requirements, must be of safety glass, Plexiglas, Lexan, or other shatterproof material, minimum 1/8" thick.
Windshields and or windows must be clear, without tinting or coloring, except factory tinted safety glass.
Competetion number decals are permitted on any window, windshield or backlite, except as noted in class requirements. Tape of any kind prohibited on any windshield or window...
Does that help?...

Hmm interesting.. THANKS import tuner.. just what I was looking for..
So basically it says that you CAN use plexi or lexan, as long as it is at least 1/8" thick and not taped? haha
Good deal. Now why would anyone (on a budget) use Lexan over plexi?

Plexiglass is more easily scratched, will yellow in the sun, and is not crack resistant. Lexan is more durable than plexiglas in most ways.
