I like the BTM, but don't trust it alone. Get the J&S. Tune with the BTM.

I have the BTM and don't find it as useful as I thought with my 6psi SC but it only senses boost after 4psi so it doesnt do anything until about full boost. If money's an issue wait for the J&S (I just got mine today, Yippee!).

The remainder of the J&S's will be done this week and next. Don't worry, they are working hard. I do think that the BTM is a great product, but it's no safeguard. It does however let us tune the safeguard, especially if you are running more than 6 lbs of boost.

I'd asked Jackson Racing about both the MSD BTM and J&S units a day or so ago and they had advised me to pass on them for now. The statment that I got was that the BTM is something that they really only recommend for 'High boost' applications.

To be honest, however, they only answered this way about the BTM and didn't say anything about the J&S.

All I am looking to do is get my MPG back...down to an average 24mpg. SUX when you put over 30k a year on a car! Seems that someone posted that they went from 24 to 27 or 28 with the J&S. Anyone what to comment on the MSD?

I posted the MPG gains on my JnS and it helps a boatload on city situations.

IMHO, Jackson doesn't really endorse products they don't make cash off of. They didn't really require an intake or exhaust but they're making it a kit for the JRSC now. The JR guys can be cool (especially Mr. Detail) but keep in mind that they're out there to make a buck, not lose it.

I've had the J&S for about a year now, but I'm thinking of replacing my MSD SCI-L with the 6BTM to compliment the J&S. Reason being, every now and then I can hear very slight detonation, even with the J&S. This was spurred mainly by Texas finally getting colder. I increased the boost gain on my fuel computer and that seemed to help.

However, I've come to the conclusion I don't want to rely on the J&S to handle all my retarding. Ideally it'd just be used for saftey and to detect too lean mixtures. Personally, I don't care if I get 14 instead 17 miles/gallon on on 12-15 pounds of boost, however I do care if my rather expensive engine blows up. I also use NOS Octane booster every other tank of gas or so, that's some good stuff.

Anyway, I had some questions about the BTM. On the web page it says it retards 1-3 degrees/pound of boost. That's a little more retard than I need. If it starts retarding at 4psi that's pretty good for my setup. It'd retard 11 degrees at 15psi, but that's a little more than I want to retard. Is there anyway to retard less per bound of boost? I'd like to take out about 7-9 degrees out at 15 pounds of boost and let the J&S makeup whatever difference is needed, if any.

    From MSD:
