an HID isn't a 'bulb' persay, it's two electrodes that produce a very high intensity 'spark' between them..the glass around these electrodes is filled with xenon, (and usually: mercury and metal halide) the bright light that you are seeing is that spark. it's essentially a plasma discharge of the reaction. the gases are all sealed (on a good kit anyway) in a quartz container. btw, the phillips kit is pure crap...sort of misleading since most everything else from the company is very nice.not the case here. the APC kit is the exact same thing but marked up 400 bucks making it almost a grand. with 'cool' APC crap all over them. on the higher end kits, you can actually 'tune' how much of the blue tint you want in them. the bluer the output, the hotter the spark.

I have Eurolite Xenon Fusion HID BULBS. They are AWESOME! produce a sweet hyper white with a blue tint!
no complaints.

um, i know from installing a set and dealing with it for a few months. that test doesn't really say anything informative? btw, i wonder why the switched from the phillips ballasts... i'm just trying to forewarn....if you wanna get the phillips kit, then be my guest :P
