So my bro sells nissans, and a guy has traded in a really nice 99 si (black) for some new nissan. and my bro has come to me if i want to buy it. ofcourse, this means lots 'o debt for me, but the damn car is saweet. so what do you guys think i should do? i dont have any $$$ to fix or work on my rusty old POS sedan, and this thing would be nice and reliable for a long time to come (not to mention the fact that its already got a b16) but at the same time, thats alot of money that i dont have, and i still wanna make a b16 4th gen. I'm torn. What would you guys do if in my situation?

look at how much the insurance is on the si before you buy, that is the only reason i build my own instead of buying one. and dont spend more than 10K that is all they are worth. other than that they are pretty fun.

i would stay with the 4th gen, since you don't have any money. Yeah insurance would be alot higher too. I was in the same boat then decided it would be cheaper to do an engine swap instead of buying a new car with a bigger engine already in it. It will save yu money in the long run.

i would stick with the 4th gen and put aside/save up the money you would be spending on a car payment for mods on the 4th gen.
i'm not the kind of person who's down for a car payment. i'd rather spend $7000 on a car and mods to make it exactly as i want it than buy a $7000 car that i'm stuck with payments and i can't afford to mod.

depends on how sweet the deal is. but if it were me (who also drives a rusty sedan) I would stick with the 4th gen. if you want you could even get the rust buffed out and a nice paint job throw in the motor and your still less than the shiny used black si well
what ever you do feel right about it. thats my two cents worth

well the deal kinda fell through, and i think the car was beat on anyway. the guy wanted too much for it (my bro couldnt sell it to me) and, unfortunately, this damn 4th gen just keeps on growing on me. unfortunately my rust is too bad to buff out (its kinda all the way through, beyond the rust stage, into the hole stage) but i think im still gonna get another and swap the motor. thanks the advice.

Stick with the 4th gen. The new 99-2000 Si's really arent that impressive. A swapped 4th gen will walk an Si. JMO
