hopefully you have the stock b16 harness or some extra connectors, but yes, you wire them right through the firewall and down to the ecu. i did the evss this way..got the stock plug and unwrapped the stock harness as far as i could..about 3 feet of wire..i then ran those wires right through where the cable speedo went to the gauge cluster and did black to a ground, yellow to power, and yellow w/ white stripe to the vss..it's a yellow/red.

i destroyed my speedo cable getting it out. you pretty much have to..well, you don't really HAVE to, but in a fit of rage i pulled it apart. oops. it's really no sweat. if you have access to a junked civic with a wiring harness it's all good..you will be able to match up the plugs with the open ones on your b16..there's no special plugs or anything.
