Since I have put the low pro wheels on my sol it seems I am fighting the steering to keep if from drifting back and forth. Any ideas? The front suspension seems loose..New struts???

From the sounds of it, it's more of an alignment problem, but I would check the suspension bushings at the same time. They do break down as out cars are over 10 years old now. As to the shocks, they can be checked with the bounce check, push down at the corners and if it bounces more then two times the shocks are bad. Also do the rims fit tight against the center hubs or do they need Centric Hub Rings to center the wheels/rims as the problem started after the new rims/tires from what you stated.
Hope that gives you a start with the problem.

I put a strut brace on it and that tightened it up a bit. I went underneath and see the cv joint boots are torn too. I tried to put on a front fiberglass bumper........OMG.....anyone know how much a shop will charge for installation?
