Imagine that...Jaskyn's ego's name is dramavictem and they feel some one is being melodramatic?...hee hee . Seriously Stranng would be inclined and has agreed with Garrick's point of view...he would rather see a human's life laid to waste(other than his or his party members) than an animal. He bellieves that humanity can spare a few lives due to it's population. Stranng would also disagree with Jaskyn as far as the hunam/animal heirarchy goes. As far as having comrades in battle, perhaps Stranng may have to utilize his ability to summon creatures in order to help vanquish the Cabal...so in essance he may agree with Gwylin's or Jaskyn's choice as far as action is concerned but he would most likely agree with Garrick's principles. Stranng would rather concentrate on all spellcasters working together in foiling the Wizards attempts to cast period than rely on summoned creatures to destroy the cabal. perhaps we can do little of both spells focused on foiling spell casting and summoning animals/monsters to aid us.

ohh by the way, if Jaskyn and Gwylin(and the rest of the party would like for that matter)Stranng can take scry as a 4th slot spell and "look into" the wizard that we dealt with previously. It MAY shed some light as to how many Wizards we are dealing with

Mer will have that odd little wand she's been playing with identified, and fully agrees that standing in the back and shooting arrows is where she would serve best, as Stranng pointed out to her last well when she nearly got herself killed ~grin~

Go ahead with the scrying, Stranng. Since it looks like we'll be waiting 24 hours from where we left off Friday before starting the day + trek to the Wizards' School, you should have time to regain that spell to something else before we leave.

I'd suggest, if the DM has the time, that you do that 'off camera' - between now and Friday, as with anyone else who has downtown activities, so that when the clock strikes for game time Friday we're already on the way to the school ruins and ready to start with the real deal, and you can reveal what info you learn while we're walking/riding etc.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">First off, no one in this game has ever used scry before. That skill was ill conceived by the game designers, especially when you consider that it must work with spells or magical items. Therefore, it was removed in version 3.5. As previously stated, there are times when I will use the 3.5 rules over v. 3.0. I am invoking that right here and removing the Scry skill from the game. Anyone with points in Scry may use them elsewhere.

However, the scrying spells still exist, though they are tweaked (using Will saves rather than Scry checks), and Stranng may still use the Scrying spell.

I think it safe to assume that everyone here has either read or watched (or both)The Lord of the Rings. Like using a Palantir, scrying is a risky business. Scrying on orcs and gnolls is one thing, but scrying on intelligent characters who are most likely more experienced, higher level and with higher intelligence can be outright dangerous. Once they sense they are being scried upon (and don't think for a second that a wizard capable of casting Circle of Death won't know), they will likely attempt the same thing on you.

Additionally, you must know who you are looking for. You may attempt to scry on the one wizard you saw (at a higher difficulty because you know not his name or true visage), but you have no knowledege about the others.

I think the choice to do so remains yours, but wish to lay out some possibilities that Stranng and Gwylln would definitely know about, even if their players may not. I also want to clear up any potential problems before they arise, as the scrying ability was a major source of abuse in previous Changeling games.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Stranng should remove 200 gp from his records to discover the following:

The stone is an ioun stone...clutch it in your fist then release it...it will orbit your head, and while doing so, sustain you without food or water.

The spoon, when placed into a vessel, produces a thick pasty gruel. While it tastes like warm wet cardboard, it is highly nourishing and will sustain any herbivorous, carnivorous or omnivorous creature for the day. It makes enough in a single day to feed up to 4 humans.

The only item found and not identified at this point is the Pink Rhomboid stone that Merilin found, and the wand that Garrick found and handed to Gwyln, though Gwylln discovered through use that it was a wand of light.

Unless I'm mistaken the rod with god-symbols on it has also not been identified . . . Einkil passed it on to Jaskyn.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Actually, that was a staff... and perhaps the most valuable item in the lot! I will await word from Jaskyn on that score.

FYI: In old D&D games, there wasn't much differentiation in terms of power between wands, rods and staves. Now, the wands tend to be the lower power, the staves the greater powers, and the rods fall in between (not to say that a wand of fireballs is a shabby thing)
