Azuritalagast, terror of this portion of the Falcon Mountains, scourge of the Frost Giants, is dead.

The party has worked diligently to slay the dragon without damaging the hoard, and it was the hoard that you came for.

The dragon lies bleeding upon his mound of treasure, consisting of thousands of copper goblins, silver moons, gold falcons and platinum dragons. Mixed in amongst this loot are over a dozen sparkling gems, several gleaming art objects and a well crafted oaken chest, iron-bound and locked.

While the treasure is remarkable, what is more remarkable is the collection of intricately crafted, adamantine weapons, including a Dagger, Quarterstaff, Longsword, Mace, small Short Sword, case of 50 Arrows and a Bastard Sword. These weapons are, in themselves, works of art, and each is unlike any other of its kind.

The crafters in the party also look upon the dragon as a font of resources. A dragons's hide, bones, fangs, claws and blood are all useful in crafting armor, weapons and elixirs.

Clearly, the party will have to make plans. Shall you leave and return? That may put your wealth at risk of pilfering. Shall you camp here for a while to count up and divide the wealth to haul out? But do you have the means to accomplish all of this? Shall the party split up or send a messenger out? Clearly much needs to be decided.

1,200 xp each is awarded for the slaying of the dragon. Details of treasure and distribution will be given based on your party's actions and posts here.

Additionally, Gladilina appears from her state of invisibilty and applauds the great performance she was privileged to witness the whole of. She claims that she cannot wait to tell Aurumulous of the event. She also says, given her fast rate of movement in relative safety, that as a reward, she would be willing to serve as a messenger if you need her, before she departs on her own errands. She is also willing to serve as your guide to find your way out of here.

The ball is in your court!

The gems are easily enough taken, and because of the bags of holding so are the works of art most likely.

The weapons are what we came after, and Allie could try to open the chest to determine if that's what holds the adamantine ore the dwarves want back.

The real challenge is likely the dragon carcass and the gold and platinum coins. If Thurvold has either the spells dimension door, or teleport, or something similar he could theoretically pop back to the dwarf stronghold with the chest, fetch his cart and return with it the same way.

Allie spends her time investigating loot while others mend wounds, clean weapons and discuss what to do next. She finds the following.

She picks the lock on the chest and finds bricks of silvery black metal lined 4 wide, 6 long and 9 high. She is unable to move the chest, and it has strong handles on each end for transporting.

she also finds:

An Adamantine Dagger adorned with the images of flame up and down the blade. When moved in the light, they flicker as if on fire, with a yellowy red hue. The cross hilts are slightly upturned, also in the likeness of flame.

An Adamantine Quarterstaff, odd to find such a weapon not made from wood, yet is surprisingly light for such heavy metal. Images of thunderclouds, with little lighting bolts shooting from them, run all up and down this long, stout weapon.

An Adamantine Longsword is polished to a highly silvery sheen, and gives off a faint moonglowish aura. The pommel is made from a large, perfect diamond, almost spherical in shape, as it is shaped with many facets spherical moonstone, and the ends of the hilts are tipped with small diamonds as well. The blade is etched with stars, moons and suns, and these images are also graven in bass relief on the handle and hilts.

A Heavy Black Adamantine Mace is stout and strong, and the head of the mace bears a skull of humanoid likeness, made from the same black metal.

A black Adamantine Short Sword is smaller than most weapons of its kind, perhaps designed for gnomes and halflings or other shorter humanoids. It moves swiftly in the hand, as if eager to join the battle.

A wide cylindrical tube contains 50 Adamantine Arrows. Thin adamantine shafts are tipped with adamantine arrowheads, and they are fletched with exotic black feathers from some rare beast.

An Adamantine Bastard Sword, big and sharp and black as ebon. It is elegant in its simple design, having no engravings or etchings. However, when held in the light, many tiny motes of light flicker aklong the blade, like stars in a night sky.

Thurvold will consider the dragon's body as much a treasure as anything else and will seek to make good use of it. Well known, after all, is dragon hide for shield or armor. Dragon blood will be bottled if need be, and other parts such as fang and claw will be of great value to an enchanter of weapons. (as the DM stated )

He will also share some of the spells that he has at his disposal that may be of use in treasure carrying..
Secret Chest (Called Leomund's Secret Chest in some planes)
Greater Teleportation
Telekinsis

He will also admit to having Stoneshape (so it might be possible to seal areas and make it harder to steal from) and Explosive Runes... though the last is not something he casts lightly, less an innocent stumble onto it. And, of course, he can identify some items by spell if need be.

His own vote will be break the dragon down into parts first thing before it goes bad, but suggest that between the Secret Chest, the many bags of holding, and the Greater Teleporation, he might, if given a day or so, be able to drop the greater portion of wealth back at Tindale.

He will grudgingly admit that the adamantine weapons are some of the finest he's ever seen, and he's seen a lot.

Kel, will be less concerned with the dragon parts (and may find wizards a morbid lot), and will cast Detect magic upon what items he can, and suggest that the lady Paladin see if she senses evil in any of same.

The half elf has no problem with waiting a bit longer before attacking the iron golems to sort through, identify, etc, but will also remind that they have a promise to keep to some dwarves in returning their ore.

Between Thurvold, Kel and Allie the magic items will likely be identified though the spell takes 8 hours per casting. The 4 pearls will come in handy for that spell for those who can cast it.

The various weapons will be laid out for people to pick the one they want (to carry at least) and Allie will claim the small shortsword since the taller people won't be able to use it well, and it's unlikely Thurvold can use it either.

Celene can use any weapon well, except the bastard sword, so will wait to choose between the longsword, dagger, mace, arrows or staff until the others pick their preference.

Allie would also like the idea of the various magical means of transportation available, and would suggest that that be how the heavy chest of ore be sent back. We have to get our steeds from the dwarves anyway, so going there with the treasure or fetching the steeds and wagon and returning to load up the treasure, and then return to Tindale would be the better path.

Deeprune has at least two pearls of his own he's willing to donate to the cause of Identifying if need be.

Kel will admire the long sword, but noticing the moons and such on it, will defer to the Paladin's choice first. After all, it maybe this item might remind her of her goddess.

He would ask her to use her Detect evil on all the items just in case still.

Detect magic reveals an aura from all of the weapons, but that is all that is magical here.

Rolls will have to be made in the appropriate skill areas to salvage the dragon parts. Craft (Leatherworking), Profession (Tanner or Hunter) or Survival will do, though the latter will require a higher DC, are needed for skinning the hide without damaging it.

Unless your characters are carrying empty vials, you may need to waste some potions and then rinse out the bottles to capture the blood (Oakshade can even purify the water if needed to be sure the bottles are free from contamination).

The Dragonomicon, my bible for all things dragon, lists many dragoncraft items and tells how to go about making such things with the Craft skill. Let me know if you have something in mind.

During the sorting of gems, art and coin, Allie creates seven piles around the large chamber and scratches each person's name in the dirt next to the pile. Each will contain the following for the individual to collect or discard as seen fit:

gp - 685 / person
sp - 500 / person
cp - 2142 / person

Thurvold - Blue-white diamond, Fire opal pendant on a fine gold chain, star ruby
Oakshade - Tourmaline, Fire Opal, Amethyst, Gold and Ruby ring
Shanti - Red garnet, Carnelian, Sapphire pendant on gold chain, string of small pink pearls
Kel - Clearest bright green emerald, finely wrought small gold bracelet, silver ewer
Allie - Carved harp of exotic wood with ivory inlay and zircon gems, ivory statuette of a 5 headed dragon, Citrine

The pearls are passed out to the various spellcasters as spell components: 1 to Kel, 1 to Oakshade, 1 to Allie and 1 to Thurvold.

Celene will be more than happy to detect evil on any items thought to be so, and will remind Kel that she's not limited in weapon choice like some of the others in the party before selecting hers from the assortment.

Oakshade leaves behind his share of the silver and copper...farr too much weight.

He also suggests that the most likely option for him for weapons is the arrows.
