I just found out, as of March 15, he's calling it quits, well, at least I got to see him in concert a few times, wtf is that crazy 61 year old dude gonna do with the rest of his life? Thanks for the sounds, JL.

That's too bad. Deep Purple is one of the most influential bands in rock history, although they haven't done much of late.

I remember the first time I ever heard exactly how old Jon Lord was. I was driving through B-lo and just about ran off the road when they said he was 51 years old (that was back in '92). To put that in perspective, he's about 3 years younger than my parents. Never woulda thunk that.

He's the same age as my mom.

Damn! Gonna miss him. I'm sure you all remember the fucking organ tone from about '69 thru about '73. Never heard anything like that - still to this day. Nobody ever played a distorted-out organ... Awesome player to boot. I knew he was getting on up there, but 61! We're all getting old.....

    Terry,
Their last 2 studio albums are really good, check them out.

    "Abandon" and "Purpendicular"

My folks aren't that old, my mom is the same age as Ozzy, Ted, and Robert Plant though, that seems a bit freaky!

highwaystar.com! I have a whopping 2 posts over there! ps-I'm not "mulletmane!" great nic though, would make for a pretty cool troll... forums

Wow. I realized that Bob Dylan is the same age as my old man.

    How do musicians retire anyway?

"Look, I don't have the fingers I once had. The reflexes are slowing down. The drugs I did in the '60's are probably the reason. I can't strum it like I used to. I'm not going to hang on and and be just a picker."
