For me,Colonel Charles Young has always been one of the more interesting figures during the long controversial process of assimilating minorities into the Armed Forces. He paved the way for Ben Davis, Chappie James and later Colin Powell. The story of his horseback ride form Ohio to D.C. to prove he was fit to be retain on active duty and hopefully receive his one-star is part of African-American lore.

My question is--Was it racism that caused Young not to be promoted to General, or did his one critical mistake in Haiti serve as a discriminator more so than race?

Maybe he wasn't promoted because when he tried to sound intelligent to his peers, he used words like this.

I hear that Charles Young was quite the vocabulanarianator in his day.

No read necessary. He was a racist.

Mike T in Indy's dad was a pathetic low-life who died of obesity and laziness. He died in shame as he knew his son was a pedofile who spent his days scouring the internet for kiddy porn.

Vitocorleone's best friends were irresponsible little shits who also were dumb enough not to wear their seatbelts even though they knew damn well Vitocorleone is retarded and was behind the wheel. Just before they went splat, they managed to utter "Oh Shit!".

Terry in Crapchester's dad came to me shortly before his death for comfort. His greatest pain was not from his illness, but rather from knowing that his asswipe son had settled for a nigger wife and his past times only included searching the net for porn and posting on this pathetic message board. As he was sucking my shlong, he muttered "damn that boy, damn him to hell."

Grandpa Cobra's niece died. She was an average person, but couldn't stand the sight of her faggot uncle who never married and whose penis was too small and impotent to start a family of his own. She probably was relieved to find out that she didn't have to put up with the old fart anymore.

Too all of these assholes mentioned above: A heart felt FUCK YOU! I'll be happy to shit all over you and your family when we meet again in hell.

    I feel truly subbllllllliminaaaaal!!!

The spelling smack was good. What's your next contribution??? An answer to the question would be great. I'm certain that you had more interest in the thread than to read it and relate my error to the reason Young was not promoted? I expect more from you forums

The failed mission in Haiti had nothing to do with his not being promoted to General, since he was promoted to Colonel afterward. Had the military felt that Haiti was that much of a blunder, he would've received no further promotions. Racism likely at least played a part, perhaps a large one, in his not getting a star.

p.s. Mr. Dinsdale is grammatically correct with regards to the placement of the apostrophe in the contraction used in his post.
