I'm not sure who calls in the scores to WCYB (I am keeping stats for Hurley this season and my only calls are to Bristol and Bluefield papers, not WCYB), but I don't see anybody on the staff calling in the wrong score intentionally. As I have found when dealing with the newspapers, they get in such a rush to get your stats and hang up, they screw up half of what you tell them.
The last two seasons, Hurley's closest game with either set of Tigers was last year against Haysi. 43-0 at the end, but it was 15-0 at halftime and Haysi had there share of problems against Hurley until our FS went out. Of course, the final score is a bit inflated as Haysi kicked two onside kicks after going up 29-0 and 36-0, recovering both, and scoring TDs afterward.
Granted, that doesn't seem close to many, but it was the best defense I had seen Hurley play all last year and if our offensive coaching had been worth a snot last year, Hurley has 2 TDs at halftime. Haysi still comes out and wins the game, but I'd have felt a lot better if we had scored on ya'll.
As for Honaker, they always seem to come out and play heads and shoulders above Hurley. Honaker always seems to be at there best against us, and we always seem to be playing so-so ball. We seem to fumble a lot against them. Hopefully, that trend will change this year.

Well, your hopes will be dashed, because that won't happen this year either.

Hurley scores versus Haysi since 2001:
'04 43-0 Haysi
'03 57-6 Haysi
'02 32-0 Haysi
'01 44-8 Haysi
Hurley results versus Honaker since '01
'04 49-14 Honaker
'03 47-12 Honaker
'02 40-0 Honaker
'01 57-8 Honaker
Honaker won by a larger margin of victory in 01 and 02 but Haysi won by the larger margin in '03 and '04 but its relatively even through all 4 years as you can see.
