I just can't see paying Percival a penny more than I would pay Wickman.
Percival is on the way down, Wickman is probably still on the way up.
I would give Wickman a bonus of $25,000 dollars for every pound he loses before spring training. I would also give Wickman an additional bonus if he comes to Indians winter camp in Cleveland, and a final bonus if Wickman keeps the weight off he lost during the season, all told, a million dollars in bonuses above and beyond any deal Wickman signs with Cleveland.
The question is this, would you rather have a fat, salary compliant Wickman at $3 million, or a somewhat lean, somewhat chisled Wickman at 4 million?
The choice is so obvious it makes my stomach hurt, oh wait, that's seeing Boozer in Utah.

Well, Wickman's signed now. I think it's a pretty good deal for the Tribe. I think he was still recovering from surgery last season, and anything he did was a bonus. I'd expect to see Wicky at full strength this year. Hopefully comeback player of the year.

I still think he's a bit too pudgy.
However he was gracious enough to give the Indians a very fair contract. Part of the reason I'd like to see him in better shape is so he enjoys the season more, especially if we are in the hunt.
