Wedge is Probably a good choice.

But as I have said all along, Anything Hart left behind was deemed damaged goods. Shapiro himself said he hired Wedge back in 98 as a minor league coach, and "you want to see your hirings make it to the majors".

Good move by Skinner to ask for a coaching job. Skinner too is managerial material, be it here, or somewhere else.

No knock on Wedgie. I hope he will be a good manager. But I think not signing Skinner was a kick in the teeth. I think Shapiro knew he wanted Wedgie from the beginning of the year. Chollie put Shapiro in a position where he had to get a manager in a hurry, so he named Skinner Interim Manager. Shapiro never ever had any intention of keeping Skinner as manager.

Does anyone know the current salary major league coaches get? I wonder what kind of pay cut Skinner takes to be the Tribe's third base coach?

Wedge is not getting that much, something like 400,000 a year. I think Skinner is solid, and he was one on one hands on in a non-theatrical way.
