Apparently, he gets a years credit in the majors just for being injured during spring training.
We now have only one option left on the guy.
What a joke. I feel badly for the guy, but he probably wasn't going to start for us this year, so to lose one of our options on him seems ridiculous.

If you think it is ridiculous we lose the option this year even though he doesn't play, yah I guess so, but that is what unions are for. But if you are thinking in general we lost it this year when we wouldn't have lost it at all, then that probably isn't true since we would have lost it in September at the latest when he was called up.

Keep in mind that the idea is to allow him and the club a chance to see how he performs at the Major League level.
Even if Escobar would have been brought up in July, he would have had two-three precious months of minor playing time.

OK so we are talking more development then the loss of an option? Oh well, don't worry, with cordero gone and Anderson gone, he is going to be put on the ML roster unless he is still hurt.

Hawaii 007, it's a tandem issue. He gets credit for a year in the majors!!!
Which also has rammifications for future contract negotiations.

Well, in all fairness, he gets the credit because he got hurt during ST with the major league club. It is just like someone who gets hurt, gets paid his full salary anyway.

Here's the latest, which is the same as the earliest. He is average at best, the Indians got robbed, and he will never contribute, even during the upcoming years of Brewer like baseball.

Alex Escobar was resigned for the league minimum...I still think if Escobar had not gotten injured, the "announcement" of his contract signing would have been further delayed (it wasn't made until the day after his injury) and he would have gotten a small bump in pay.

I hope Alex's sore neck at the end of the year was nothing major.
I liked how he seemed to hit a variety of pitchers.

Did you notice how Gerut played a lot of left field at the end of the year? Escobar will get some ABs just because he has to be on the team, but he will have to earn a lot of his ABs based on how he plays.
