Some interesting pitching, defense, and offensive statistics are starting to emerge.

First of all, We have hit the fourth most doubles in the AL, only one behind the third place team. THIS IS GOOD NEWS, last year we were LAST in this stat. And generally, the strongest offensive teams usually lead the league or are near the top in the doubles category.

It seems once Haffner and Garcia sat, our offense improved because they were our two biggest strikeout artists and had the LOWEST bases on balls among starters. I find that VERY interesting that our offense has picked up with these two out of the line-up.

From a pitching and fielding point of view, we have induced the most double-plays in the league, by a wide margin of NINE more than the number two team!

We also have the second highest percentage of throwing out base stealers! This is setting up more chances for double plays!

Our Defensive Range factor is HIGHEST in the A.L., and could go even higher if we do bring up Coco Crisp and play an outfield of Gerut, Crisp and Bradley, and keep Mcdonald at third and BLAKE at FIRST!

With the subtraction of Garcia, Haffner, the addition of McDonald & Gerut, and the development of Blake, Bard, Bradley and Phillips, we are witnessing a leaner, more fit group, and it's beginning to show itself in key stats that reflect a team that is probably at least a .500 team!

    Here's hoping!

Speaking of fielding, what a wretched stretch the first two games against Boston. Just as we begin to emerge, we start to submerge.
