Members of the HIT squad include Matt Lawton, Ben Broussard, and Lou Merloni. All of them are proficient at getting hit by pitches, especially in key situations with men on base.

Merloni's recently was picked off of first base but because he bolted for second and legally ran on the inside of the basepath on his way to second, the throw to second by the first baseman hit his helmet and he made it all the way to third. Just now Merloni was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Benny has also been hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and on other occasions will let a close pitch just nick him on the arm.

Matt Lawton was beaned TWO times in a row, and then came back with a few hits of his own. The HIT squads ability to let the ball ding them every now and then without getting zonked too badly is the reason we have the best OBP in either league.

Congrats Matt, Benny, and Lou of the HIT Squad.

Lets add Travis Hafner to the hit squad. Pronk has been getting pronked lately. Pronk also leads all DH's with 32 RBI's. Way to go Pronk!

And we lead both leagues in HBP! hey, it helps explain our .359 OBP and how lately we have led the league in this category.

Pesky Boston finally passed us with a .360 OBP. But hey, we just had a 1-0 victory which affected our percentage.

Ben Broussard recently ended his hitting drought with a very modest 3 game hitting streak. However, Ben happily let the ball hit him in the eigth inning against California and was on board when Casey Blake blasted a three run homer as we took the lead by one run and went on to win the game 9-6.
