this idea has been kicked around - so let's see what is out there.
Is it a good idea to allow teams out of the playoffs to cut 1 year players?
On one hand, they will be 0 year players and that is not going to change - it would give interest a little bit as team adapt to the next year (although I think a live draft keeps the interest of non-playoff teams during the playoffs).
But, on the negative, they get a benefit of extra time to renegotiate with 0 year players - which could severely impact the fairness that the guarneteed contracts creates.

i am for letting playoff ousted teams being able to cut 1 yr deals. i really don't think it hurts anything and it gives us poor saps something to do.

Don't liek it at all.
It frees up the ability to renegotiate other players right now, and get prepared for the Off-season.
Everyone asked for a lack of flexability, we need to stick to it.

Keep it as it is....1-year means an entire year of guarenteed contracts, so why allow cuts to be made....And as GK said, it would be an off-season boost for the non-playoff teams, which I dont think they have earned, nor does need.

I think it should stay as it is now, you can't relase guys until they get to their 0-year. As others have said it would give some people an advantage when it comes to resigning 0-year players.

Makes no difference to me really, I just brought it up again cause I have a player who I plan to cut and wasn't sure if anything had been decided or not.

I agree. As much as I would like to drop a few players now we all agreed on the rules and it shouldn't matter where we are in the season.

I could care less, either way is good. Once the regular season is over, i think players pretty much stop getting paid. I think whatver they make in the playoffs are the team's prize money for each time they advance. So although their rights are still with the team, the team isn't paying them once they have been eliminated from contention. So if this is a vote thing, my vote is to let people cut 1 year contracts once eliminated from contention

I agree, too. 1 year is one year - I don't a problem with it - except for the whole renegotiatign issue - but that is enough.
