    Ballinteer 1-9 St Annes 1-6

Excellent win for the U21 footballers on Saturday. the team lined out as follows:
    C O'Donnell
    C O'Broin S Holland C McCabe
    E Murphy C O'Brien K Davis
    D O'Brien K nolan
    E Walsh E Naughton P Corcoran
    C Morrissy S McCann C Duffy
Subs used: N McCabe, C Lane, R Clabby

    Scorers: S McCann (0-4)(2f's)
    C Duffy (1-0)
    E Naughton(0-2)
    C O'Brien (0-1)
    C Lane (0-1)
    K Nolan (0-1)

Ballinteer got out of the blocks like a light and led by 3-0 after 10 minutes. But while dom inating the middle of the field they wern't putting adequate scores on the board. Slowly but surely St. Annes started to pull back the lead and brought the game to 3-3 by the 15th minute. 2 quick scores from Ballinteer brought the score back to 5-3 and this was how it remained until Senan Finucane blew for halt time.
THe first score of the 2nd half was a Ballinteer goal. Colm Duffy bravely fisted home a 50-50 ball in close proximity with the St. Annes square, but the goal stood.Colm took a bad bang in the process and was replaced as a result. At 1-5 to 0-3 Ballinteer should have been in pole position, but naive defending let Annes back into the game, a goal bringing the score 1-5 to 1-3. The closest Annes came was when they reduced the deficit to the slightest of margins, 1-6 to 1-5, but excellent defending exemplified by Cormac O'Broins brave block, and the generally superior attacking threat posed by our forwards, meant it would be Ballinteers day.Late pionts by Cormac O Brien with the outside of the boot, Ciaran Lane, as well as a pointed free by Shane Mccann (after an excellent high field by Keith Nolan) were enough to see us home. Ballinteer now go on to meet the winners of Templeogue Synge St./Whitehall Colmcilles
