Hi there!
I am in a quandary!!!
Need your help or advice!
At the moment my well-beloved EWS64 XL
works perfectly with an Abit KT7 Raid Board
and an Athlon 900MHz.
I would like to upgrade my system
In the near future.
Well, actually I wanted to buy an Abit KT7A
Raid Board and an Athlon 1400MHz/FSB266.
It seemed to me to be an reasonable decision.
But then, regarding the dumping prices
for RAM Modules, I asked myself:
hey, why don't you buy DDR RAM Modules??
And because I love Abit Boards my choice
would be the Abit KG7 Raid Mainboard.
And now the Problem: NO ISA BUS !!!!
So, I then looked for a PCI-Card from
Terratec. But, what card can be compared
with the EWS64 XL?? Maybe the EWX 24/96 ???
I just used my EWS64 XL for digital recording.
But, would you give it away and replace it by the EWX 24/96?????
The other problem is, that I was one of the first who got this card. So the
Hardwarerevision is 1.0.
And therefore there is no support for
Win2k or WinXP!
I think Cubase and WnXP could rock!
Don't you think?
So, what would YOU do??
Thank you in advance!

Hi Jason!
Thank you for your commentary!
But I am not a "Gamer". I am a computer
technician and musician.....
So I combined both.
At the moment I find it great to work with
cubase and virtual instruments. And
therefore I would like to have "hidden reserves" for the future!
At the moment my TBird does a good job.
4-5 VST Instruments playing approximately
together (effects included) 9-10 Tracks.
CPU load about 40%.....
You know what I mean....?
T H X!

If you use the card only for digital audio recording and don't use the midi/synth stuff on the EWS, the choice can be simple: buy the 24/96, buy a nice new mainboard and go on with your music
But carefully read all the specs and features on the Terratec site. It's a very good card, but you should figure out if it meats all your requirements and the features you want.
Good luck,

Thank You Arnoud!
At the moment, I really don't know
what to do....
I will have to think twice.
By the way, do have owners of the EWS64 XL with Hardware Rev. 1.0 the possibillity to
get the card replaced by a card with higher
Revision?
thx

I don't think the 1.0 revision user will
replace the new one...
because they won't to spend the $$ and time
to pay the hope to this card

TerraTec replaced mine promptly, and my board was... Interesting. It was a v1.00 which got replaced to v1.20 I think. No cost other than shipment.
