I didn't think that fram would fit the older drivers without machine work. Certainly doesn't look 1930's...and that's claimed to be the original fram...

    Any light on the matter?

    BUMP!

    Just my .02 here..........

Pretty sure those knife connectors suggest post 1980-82 manufacture.

I don't know for sure, but i don't think Altec was using the 391XXX codes much before 1950, same goes for the square QC stamp "AL 25".

I'd bet BBQ and beer that those are alnico drivers that somebody has installed fields in........... DIY FC build ups IMO.

FWIW, considering the location and language barriers, i'll give the seller the benefit of the doubt that what he meant by "original phragms" is that they're genuine altec and not aftermarket.

And if they were original, wouldn't they be just marked "Lansing"?

Almost sure at this point they are conversions. The only problem I have is it's not mentioned.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">What bothers me, is that the seller didn't provide pictures of the field coil. The only clue that a field coil may exist is the second set of terminals...... unless that picture just isn't showing up for me, which happens with dial up from time to time.

Did Altec ever use wood on their drivers? Or how about two different types of connectors. They don't look very original unless the seller means "unlike other Altecs"
