He's dreaming. I'm not. I don't doubt many of us could make the same model. $239.00 is only good for him. Sorry to be negative.

seriously, I worked in retail audio from 1969 to 1977, with less than a year out 73-74. If where ever was a miniature salesman's sample, no one would even bother with him. You wouldn't waste
you're time looking at something you couldn't operate, maybe take home to audition. Miniature salesman's samples must have vanished long before I was born (1949)and I doub't there was any ever made for the audio industry. This person must think were all guppies.

Altec made a few miniatures- they were not salesman samples though- I think they were used for demonstration purposes.
I have seen them in the possesion of Altec employees, while they were working for Altec- this was something like 30 years ago.

I had one of the rare Altec "salesman's" samples, and sold it to Michael a few years ago. As far as I know, there are two others in existence. One is owned by Bill H. at Great Plains and another owned by a friend of his. I did not have the original horn that sat on top.
With respect to those with a (somewhat) negative attitude, if you're not interested.......no problem..... there may be others that are. And they may have different views and reasons for doing so. I just thought it looked kind of neat, that he did a nice job, and would be relevant and interesting to some of the people on this board.

Racerxx, I perhaps should apologize- I mean you no offense.
Yes he did a good job and it is kinda neat.
My only issue is with the Ebay poster.
The "limited edition" stuff is pure bull....
I get so sick of auctions where the price is justified by RARE!!!!!!!!!! whether the item is or not.
Caveat emptor certainly applies to Ebay- there is no shortage of con artists there.
And I smell more than a hint of PT Barnum in that posting.

Take a look at the following link; http://www.lansingheritage.org/image...hort/page1.jpg Take a look at the two horns with driver "toys" on the cover of the 1983 Altec "pro" brochure, were these "miniature salesman's samples"?

They look like wax or thermoplastic scale engineering models to me, they appear "solid".

They were indeed used for engineering- and there's alot more than two around...
I kick myself still, had an opportunity to get a whole set about 20 years back.
