just because i had these things sitting in the attic and wifes closet i put them together in the old jbl 10 cft boxes sealed the ports with a staple gun added the 2 420 a with a emilar e175 driver in a small seirra brooks horn crossed at 800 hz
it was a fairly likeble altec sound, i dont know why folks dont like this driver, the bass notes were awesome on some old regge and dub

I like the 420's. I bought a pair of Santana's with the 420-8B in them and they are nice sounding!
Also tried the 420-8B woofs in my model 19's with good results.
I think they could be built into a just fine 2 way system with a horn.
I always keep my eyes open for another pair of these.
The -8B version can be front or rear mounted and have what appears to be the same magnet structure as a 416-8B.

I measured four 420's last weekend. These is a typical result on a Woofer tester2. Some of the numbers look a bit off but I still think the 420's are nice.
