It looks like the last batch of 91 gold edition Studer has been sold. There's no demand for analogue 50k$ tape decks for now.

They put production on hold for now it seems.

These machines were well made and with a little maintenance can go a long way.

Now that Pro Tools has been established as the prime recorder. One as to be carefull in choosing the decoder. Remember it has to sound exactly the way you hear it on your console when playing it back. But I want to keep it a secret cause no one around here has the right decoder.

I worked with a few Studer multi-track. Good machines.
Protools had a pretty bad resampler, but I think that's fixed now. Not sure what you mean by "decoder."

We probably meen the same. The decoder I mean CONVERTER decodes from analogue to digital and vice versa.THe best one for imaging and depth
that will reproduce the same as you hear it from your console is .....Some one did an AB test wih some top of the line models
and the differences are incredible.Thats why I'M POSTING THIS Because if your goin to order 196 chanells of these machines you will be stuck with them for a long time.

    Re: Studer

OK, thanks. We are actually NOT talking about the same thing. You are talking about the ADC and DAC, (which I thought you might be) and I was talking about the sample rate converter. Like recoding at 96KHz then converting that down to 44.1KHz for CD release, or even 48KHz for DVD and such.
There are a lot of good DAC and ADC out there. I build my own DACs, so that's mostly what I listen to. I find that most of the difference comes from the analog section and power supply, not from the digital section itself.

Any info you want to share on what you like is welcome.

    Re: Studer

The A/D is a separate step from the D/A. A/D is where it falls down, not in the decoding back to analog.

I guarantee you don't have any big secret.

I don't understand reviving a thread that has been dead 2 1/2 years in order to make a post that has nothing to do with this board.
