    A friend just sent me a beautiful vintage Altec 603 C 15" driver and I am looking for any information I can get on it - like years of manufacture, wattage rating, and such. I am planning on using in a bass guitar amp.

    The 603 was only made for a few years, early 50's.

    Probably 25 watts or so- I'm not sure you will be happy with it as a bass guitar unit.

    I would suggest Ebaying it and getting a 421 series, 421 8h and 8h II probably being preferred for what you want....even a 418 would be an improvement.

    That is a home Hi-Fi unit not an instrument speaker.
