IMHO the Emilar doesn't sound as good but handles more power.
It was designed by an ex-Altec employee...who later founded Renkus-Heinz...
Emilar, like Altec, was a casualty of the 1980's recession that claimed so many in US audio...
Not saying the Enilar is bad, but for home I'd prefer Altec, for live, the Emilar.
Honestly for live the BMS is the bee's knees, it handles more power, has better highs, and cheaper to fix. Technology has come a long way.

the emilar works well in the 811 horn and loses mojo in the 511, as a good second best choice to the 8 series,and they are still cheap, although the driver specs say 500hz they dont like that 8oohz and up at 12db hp minimum.
great vintage driver with a close replica altec sound in a tatrix horn though
