    Jensen fell on hard times. They probably changed before most.

    The BIG switch was late 70's. Alnico had been climbing for some time, but in the late 70's Cobalt went thru the roof due to political problems in Africa interfering with supply.

    As I said, Alnico had been climbing for some time, so low end speakers from the 60's were ceramic....many low end 50's speakers were still Alnico. Most Utah for instance was ceramic, but they did have a top of the line, the mag assembly used in the Seeburg boxes with Altec horns...I even have one of the 12's looks really nice but stamped frame..

    Right, I remember that. It was the conflict between Zaire and Angola in 1978. Cobalt became very hard to get. Most of it comes from copper mines in the Congo (Zaire).
