I think it only matters if the thickness of the baffle is about the same size as the propagated wavelength.

Have the new GPA 604's in a Stonehenge box.
Wondering if the drivers should be front mounted, or mounted inside....?
Any negative sonics for internal mounting? (The front baffle is 19mm thick.....3/4 inch.)
I like the look of the Hiraga cabinet....which uses rear mounting...but has that nice flange.

Thanks Jim
The baffle is 3/4 inch thick. How do I assess the propagated wavelength?
Andrew
It would be - um..... 3/4" inch.
Now for some useful info: That equals about 18KHz. Your woofer probably isn't playing that high.
Wave length is equal to the speed of sound divided by the frequency. The speed of sound, in air, at room temperature, is about 1140 feet/sec or 13680 inch/sec.
I thought this topic was going to be a lot racier...
With thread titles like "Mounting From Behind!" and "It's a Fokker" I think we might have to institute an age requirement of 18 years or older on this website!
