Franken 604 It's rare....one of a kind. whether or not it ok to splice the two together would be a question for the experts.

Prolly OK if done well, but likely aftermarket cone. I'd pass. If dirt cheap might be adequate center channel.

I saw it, too - because I'm looking around for a pair of 604B (unfortunately utterly unsucsessfull for a long time already) - I guess they are home-brewed and therefor it might be a pig in a poke (for me) - also in sense of buying them just as a parts-store.
    best,

If this thing is "rare" it's because it's half baked.

Looks to be in decent shape.Except the crack on the edge of the cone (Minor). Also original cone 20159. The crinkle finish looks pretty crinkley. The network has no serial # on it.The space is blank.Early serial 577 on the 604B.

Interesting, didn't know loading caps went that far back plus thought the 604 needed all of the terminal cover's rear volume to work properly with the 1 kHz XO.

Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.

I noticed that too. I have had several sets of the "large horn" versions, none of which had caps...so I assumed none had them. We may never know if those are original or all mine were left off by users.
