I think the 816's are homebrew
I was trying to find out of if the 816's were plywood, but the lot sold before the seller got to the storage location to check. I would have liked to keep a pair of the 816s, and a pair of the JBL cabinets, and sold off the rest. I've got no idea what the majority of those drivers are.

Not all vegetables make good leaders.
It ties the woofer baffle/motor board to the top panel of the cabinet. What is it's purpose on the 825?
Later the 828 cabinet would use a dado and triangular glue blocks on the interior side of the motor board. The differences in motorboard construction are pretty well illustrated in the various plans in the Altec Library.
The 816 drawing in the "70's enclosure plans" doesn't show blocking of any kind. When we built them we used 1 inch square hardwood blocking.

Okay, then the A7 cabinets that I used to have were the later design........ I was never sure exactly what cabinets they were. If I recall they had some features of both the 825 and 828, so I always referred to them as 825/828 in posts. I figured them to be a transitional design.
