Do you know the driver load yet?

These spanned a huge range of years from the early "844" with curved spoke 414's all the way into the ferrite years.

They look pretty early, curved spoke gold 414Z, green 806A and of course the green 811s from the photo.

I should have realized from the green horns alone that they're "844's".

Note that spec sheet is from 1965.

Just for giggles, check ebay over the course of a few weeks and see what a great investment you made.

You know when i was posting that spec sheeet I came across the 844's and wrongly thought it was another typo...

Anyhow they are essentially the same speaker WRT to performance it seems.

Looks like what they probably did was eventually add the prefix "9" to the models designed as monitors, purely a guess on my part though.

I think that this may be the longest running model Altec made(EDIT; 2nd to the A7 of course), from at least as far back as 1965 to as late as 1984. The only changes made were simply the result of the evolution of the drivers and the color of the grill cloth.

I THINK the change came with the angular frames on the 414, it got new frames in the 60's where the 15's changed some 5-6 years later.
