Great Plains Audio 902 driver without mesh , good idea ?

    Hi
Is it a good idea to remove the mesh at the driver hole / opening.
Any recommendation ? The driver/speaker is used in a living room.

If you remove it, can you put it back in? I seem to remember you can. If so, try it! I think you will like it.

    Hello
It can probably be put back in place again. It seams to be placed behind the "paper gasket" placed/glued on the front mounting area of the driver. The mesh has some height 0,5mm something, meaning that the front mounting area of the driver is not completely flat. I first thougt the the Altec 511B horn mounting area was not completely flat as i noted a spring between the GPA driver and horn when mounted. That was not the case, it was this mesh that created the spring. However, I believe it will be tight enough around the 1 inch entrance to the horn with the mesh in place. But it looks strange when the driver area is not completely flat. Well, removing the mesh and the driver mounting area will be flat so may be another advantage.
