OT: Allen Organ solid state amps

Opinions on the suitability for HiFi? I'm trying to get a pair locally, and wonder how much effort I should exert. They're a model S-100.

Never tried them but not anxious to. Early solid state frankly was not very good. Even tube organ amps need to be modded. I would pass.

An Altec 9444A is cheap and likely better. Note=9444b is completely different.

For Hifi use, I'd pass on these. My mother , a pro organist, bought a large Allen organ in 1979 that came with a separate amp rack with 4 of these amps. Years ago one amp developed problems and I took it in for repair, then tested it briefly in an audio system. It was a disappointment sonically, and not in the league of their earlier tube amps which I own to this day, and cherish.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll let them go then. It's an organ at Habitat that doesn't work...... well it did, and then stopped. They marked it down real cheap, but don't seem to want to let me pull parts. It's too big for me to want to bring it home and dispose of the rest. It's a big one!

It'll get scrapped, but it doesn't sound like it will be much of a loss.

Hammond, yes. Allen, no not much of a loss.

I went back today to the Habitat Re-Store and found the organ sold. I was a bit surprised, when I found the sold sign on it.

Unfortunately, I didn't find a thing to buy. They did have a pretty nice looking mid-century modern table and chairs, but I don't have the need or room.
