OT Contingency Plan

Hostboard has been down a lot lately. I know they're doing upgrades etc. and I'm not worried about it. However, it occurred to me that at some point this website could go down for good--possibly with no warning. Businesses go bankrupt all the time and it could happen some day to the hostboard as well. I wanted to suggest that if at some point in the future this website goes down for good, that we have some kind of contingency plan. We've got a great group of people here--many of which are extremely knowledgeable about Altec and sound reproduction in general (and new people joining all the time).

Is it worth throwing out ideas regarding a contingency plan? One idea for example could be if this site disappears, that we all "meet" over at the Lansing Heritage site temporarily until we find a new "home". Someone could start a thread over there like "Altec Users Board Temporary Relocation" etc. if this site goes down for good. Any thoughts/suggestions?

the other option is to move the data base and url to another Vb host. and let the porn loving sheep lickers have their way with hostboard.

Dave i don't think the Admins. over at Lansing Heritage would appreciate that... There has been an issue with the NEW age lock system that Hostboard had implemented recently..It has been disabled for now.. NO WORRIES !!! The site and all of our threads are Backed up ! I got an email from Steven telling me what is going on.So I'm relaying some of the info he told me.. He recently switched to a new server as well that I have no confidence in as i have been getting a lot of "Server too busy's try again Later" messages.. I relayed that concern to him. Hang in there he's working on it !

Me too, also I can't 'reply with quote', it just causes a little circle scrolling symbol to pop up and locks up the webpage until I click on the arrow to return to the previous page.

Yes I have reported it to Steven ! I'm getting a "Server to Busy At The Moment Please Try Again Later" message ! Almost constantly... Hostboard moved to a new server that is supposed to be a lot larger than the previous one.. FWIW I personally think it Sucks !
