    After really being bitten by the vintage Altec bug, I've wondered why certain drivers command more lofty prices than others on the market. The 515 seems to be THE Altec bass driver that is most in demand. Can you Altec guru's explain why.

    All except for the 515-G, they don't seem to fetch nearly as much, I guess because they are only good for horns and nothing much else (but man they do it that great).

    Excellent design with above average/benign HF response for the genre, yielding excellent passband transient response while maintaining pistonic behavior over a wide BW for low distortion. You get what you pay for, a rare commodity in itself.
