Yes Alien, it is the same thing as the Panlog I am returning. Blu-ray only exports DD+(Dolby Digital +) and HTS-HD and those things automatically convert audio into only 2 channel Stereo. The internet is filled with hundreds of threads from people that have purchased Blu-ray players and so far, the only workaround is to buy a new HDMI A/V Receiver. I only have $75 into this Yamaha, but I am surprised we haven't heard of any very irate home theater aficionados who have spent $1000's and are hunting down electrical engineers or CEO's employed by these blu-ray manufactures.
Unfortunately, the only HMDI A/V receivers or pre amps with 5.1 or 7.1 audio component outputs are very pricey. It seemed so simple, but like everything, somebody had to make it as complicated as ever could be conceived.
