Merlin, great choice on the new 604's. I think the experts here need a little more info, like what are you using them for, what type of space you have, what are you preferences, what types of amps will you be using, how big of a box can you live with. There are tons of box designs for the 604, for different applications, if I were building boxes for 604's, which I should, I would look into the MLTL designs. Good luck, 604's can be awesome!!!

Will be used in a home hifi set up and powered by either an Altec 9440A Power amplifier or an Marshall EL34 100 Watt guitar tube amplifier which I alsos found good sounding.

The box size is not critical and big boxes can be accomodated. I had plans for either the Urei 811 or the Urei 813 before but could not find any on the market.

I have seen on the forum that the Altec cabinet 620 seams to be a good choice or the Stonehenge V. I have the the Stonehange III drawing but have not seen any recommendation for that. Is that just as appropriate ?

Also which type of glassfibre damping material i recommended to be used.

    Well, any information /drawings appreciated.

The Stonehenge V is pretty much the same as the III but with different port/crossover location. I think it may be a little larger as well. Both cabinets are good choices Stonehenge/620. It is a matter of aesthetics really..They both perform the same with the 620 may be giving a little better low end due to the slightly larger cabinet volume. The internal volume is pretty close though IIRC. Maybe some others know for sure the cabinet volume of the Stonehenge.. The 620 is around 9cu.ft.The Stonehenge I think is 7.5-8 not totally sure as I have not done the calculations on the volume for it.YMMV

I thought the (new) Stonehenge V was the same volume as the 620, just taller and with a narrower baffle.

Anyone, where to find the drawings on the Stonehenge V.

It may be a better option with a more narrow baffle.

Just received the price from Great Plains Audio for the 604-8H-III , 950USD each.

    Thanks for help.

Todd White has offered help with supplying Stonehenge V. plans before now. A PM to Todd would be the way to go.
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

Yeah, I did a search as much to see if it's any better than my experience with the old hostboard and it did pretty good, so search stonehenge v to get a whole lot of info WRT to it, the 620, a little on the III and my thoughts on Altec's tall reflex cab Vs MLTL design differences. No V drawing though, just references to contacting Todd for it.

    Thanks Jeff for information.

Why does not GPA supply appropriate drawings if one is buying their units ? I am sure they will benefit and sell additional 604 units if supplied.

If interested in the GPA units you need to search the net, and still may question if these Altec cabinets show up ,as for example
the Stonehenge III or the Altec 620a , is directly adaptable to their unit.

These drawings are also offen missing important information as where to place the fibreglass , thickness and density etc.

So request to GPA , please, include drawings with your units.
