I was just curious as to the boards thoughts about the early 604's. I have G's and H's but am curious as to the rage around the earlier ones. Some of the early specs don't look that great, do the prices reflect the sound quality of these units? Also the c's and e's sell for more than the g's sometimes, are they actually better. Thanks any info would be great!
A real multicell horn with a significantly larger mouth area should provide more acoustic load down lower.
1000hz XO, a bit closer to "realistic" given the limitations of the driver sections.
Professional, tool room quality, industrial gray krinkle finish.
The clamped hinge, and bolted spider were a wonderful design promoting field serviceability.

Why Altec changed the HF horn on the 604 is beyond me as it was much better than the small one they started using with the C vaiant... Take a look at the difference in size..I can't find the side by side frontal view picture i had that really shows how much bigger it was..But anyway here is some more info..
